I have found that if I embed a short 5 minute mp4 video it will indeed show the poster and the play button. Sorry I wasn't clear about that. I truly believe this would be a well used feature. We did the same exact thing: set the MIME types, set the Web Application Browser Handling to Permissive, set the list to be anonymous....however still couldn't get the videos to play http://swusf.org/html5-video/html5-video-tag-not-working-in-ipad.html
