I still went ahead to try it with really very little hope or expectation that it may even work but i am quite surprised that it actually worked like a charm Nothing I could do would bring it to home or allow me to go to settings to turn on assistive touch. The process is tedious and very difficult, so it's best to do this as a last resort. That seems to have made a difference. I slapped it against my thigh a few times and now it works.
